New Starters
What to expect?
- Classes commence on time so please ensure you arrive ready to start or utilise our facilities.
- All children need to pack bathers, towel and goggles (optional).
- Parent and teacher classes require either Fitted Splashy Daks or Happy Nappy swim pants. These are compulsory for all children under 2.5 or not fully toilet trained and must be worn over a disposable nappy. These can be purchased at the front desk or online from Splashy Daks.
- For the first swimming lesson, aim to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled class time to allow for you and your child to become accustomed to the environment.
Please let your teacher know of any concerns your child may have, participating in there lesson. If you have any concerns throughout your journey at Waterworx Swim Centre, please speak to one of our staff members at a suitable time at the reception.
How long do classes go for?
Our swim classes are 30 minutes in duration.
Lessons are continuous throughout the year. We are closed on Public Holidays and the Christmas/New Year Period.
How long will it take for my child to learn to swim?
Every child is different and it is important you do not compare your child with another. Each child’s temperament, concentration, coordination, fears and past exposure play a huge part in their learning.
Consistency is key to the success of your child learning to swim. Practising outside of classes is also crucial for your child to improve their skills learned in class.
To progress from one level to another we assess not only your child’s ability to do the skills learned but we also look at things such as strength and technique.
Missed Classes
Due to the disruptions makeup lessons cause to classes, we do not provide them, however, you may be eligible to have your missed lesson credited.
To receive a credit the following must be met:
- Notice at least 1 hour prior to lesson time of the inability to attend
and
- The sighting of a doctors certificate.
